New LAHS Publication Launch
We are excited to announce the launch of our new venture, a 52-page print and online magazine, Leicestershire History. We hope that it will act as an introduction to the many stories, people, places and objects that form our collective past. In tone it will be engaging and knowledgeable, but not academic and is aimed at a broader public audience. Its editor is Joe Hall, a former member of the Society’s committee who previously organised the 2018 History Fair at Beaumanor Hall and set up the Society’s Public Heritage Fund.
LAHS members will receive the digital version as part of their membership package, with external subscribers able to sign up and view a sample article here. It will also be on sale in many museums and visitor centres around the city and county from July.
The first issue is now out with a second planned for January and we very much look forward to seeing it develop further.
The new magazine is a welcome addition to our publications, which range from Newsletters containing updates on forthcoming local talks, exhibitions and publications, to our Open Access Blogs, where shorter articles on the results of LAHS members’ own research are published, to the online and print Leicestershire Historian which includes more in-depth pieces showcasing original research, together with book reviews, and finally the Transactions, our publication of record for full length academic studies into our past.
