The story of Eleanor De Montfort, the daughter of Simon De Montfort, connects the three major political worlds of the 13^th century: the English monarchy, the rebellious English baronage, and the independent Welsh principality. In this lecture, Professor Louise Wilkinson will offer a compelling narrative, demonstrating how Eleanor embodied dynastic claims, forged alliances, and helped shape the political landscape of her time.

The LAHS Scarborough Lecture is named after the late John Scarborough, Local Leicester man, who after joining LAHS at the age of 21 became a lifelong member and supporter of the Society for over 45 years. He was particularly interested in the High Medieval Period.
