The Roman cavalry helmet from the Hallaton Treasure – a collection of stunning finds buried at a Late Iron Age ritual site in Leicestershire – has recently been recreated in the form of two contrasting replicas. This talk will discuss the recent project to re-evaluate the helmet’s iconography and investigate what the helmet may tell us about wider themes of religion, propaganda, status, and the relationships between invaders and native populations.
